Some of the Women in the New Testament

Some of the women mentioned in the New Testament are as follows:
  •  Some of the women named Mary:
    1. Mary, mother of Jesus (Mat 1:18): The virgin mother of Jesus.
    2. Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2, Mark 16:9): A devoted disciple. 
    3. Mary of Bethany (John 11:1): Sister of Martha and Lazarus, known for anointing Jesus' feet (John 12:1–3). 
    4. Mary, wife of Clopas and mother of James and Joses/Joseph (John 19:25, Mark 15:40, Mat 27:56):
      (This is probably one and the same Mary).
    5. Mary, mother of John Mark (Acts 12:12): 
      Owner of the house where believers gathered in Jerusalem. 
  • Followers of Jesus, some of whom supported Jesus with their resources:
    • Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2).
    • Joanna (Luke 8:3): Her husband was Chuza,
      who managed the household of Herod Antipas.
    • Susanna (Luke 8:3).
  • Some of the women who were present at Jesus' crucifixion:
    • Mary, mother of Jesus (John 19:25, see above).
    • Mary Magdalene (John 19:25, Mark 15:40, Mat 27:56,
      see above)

    • Mary, wife of Clopas and mother of James and Joses/Joseph (see above).
    • Salome, wife of Zebedee, and the mother of James and John, two of the Twelve apostles (Mark 15:40, Mat 27:56).

    • Phoebe: A deacon in the church at Cenchreae (Rom 16:1).
  • Some other women also mentioned:
    • Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist (Luke 1:5, 13, 39–45).
    • Anna the Prophetess:
      Recognized Jesus as the Messiah in the Temple (Luke 2:36–38).
    • Martha of Bethany: Sister of Mary and Lazarus.
      Noted for her confession of faith (John 11:20–27).
    • Tabitha (Dorcas): An early disciple of Jesus (Acts 9:36–41).
