The Parable of New and Old Treasures

Jesus told this parable: Every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of Heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new
and what is old (Mat 13:52).

Preachers and teachers of the gospel shouldn't be novices (1 Tim 3:6) but mighty in the Scriptures, well acquainted with both the Old Testament and the New Testament and their meaning. They need to have a storehouse of spiritual knowledge.

Everyone who knows the Mosaic Laws of the Old Testament and is also taught
in the kingdom of Heaven, can be like a man who brings from his storehouse
old treasures as well as new treasures. This is what several writers of
the New Testament do (Heb 1:1–2), see for example The Book of Hebrews.
